The Fat Tyre Flyers mountain bike club is celebrated it's 25th year in 2008.
The club is divided into 3 sections:
This website is dedicated to DOWNHILL MTB only. Racing, practice, culture and community. For information about the rest of the FTF club, go to this link: http://www.ftf.com.au/
The club is administered by an executive committee comprising representatives from DH and XC (trials being small and generally unaffiliated with dirt type activities).
XC and DH run separate committee and bank accounts, and report to the president during quarterly executive committee meetings.
The current committee members of the DH section of the club are:
For clarity, we now show any direct cycle industry commercial affiliations that any of the committee members have.
The club is after all about you - THE RIDERS, we are only here for THE RIDERS we don't know how to make this any clearer - ITS FOR THE RIDERS!!!
We don't have any social events (yet), we don't seek to make profit, we don't want to have lots of money in the bank - we want the riders to have FUN.
Remember - its not sheep stations. Its downhill, its a great sport and it teaches people so much about themselves, and about taking responsibility and accepting that in the end, its all about what YOU can do. But before that its about enjoying yourself with friends, meeting new people and being part of a world-wide community of like-minded people.
If we have one stated mission at FTF (after having fun), its this:
We want to make sure Victorian riders are considered the best in Australia - and therefore the world. We have the best venues, we have great clubs, we have the best State Series...we should have the best riders. Victorians are no different to anybody else - you can do it. Let us know how FTF can help...we want to support you to be the best you can be.
If you are interested in coming on board to help with the workload at the club, please do not hesitate to contact us. We currently need:
Like all clubs - FTF runs on the sniff of an oily rag, and depends entirely on volunteers. Downhill is particularly demanding in this respect, to give newcomers an idea of what is involved, here is a typical race complement of people required:
Come on down - we don't bite. And it will make the event that much better for you and your kids if we all help each other out.
